Approach

While I am integrative in my approach, I predominately practice from a psychodynamic framework. This involves sensitively and curiously paying attention to your inner world and experiences, and how these have developed over time. So often, the patterns we find ourselves in—whether in relationships, emotions, or how we see ourselves—have deeper roots. Psychodynamic therapy offers a space where we can slow down together and reflect on what may going on beneath the surface. This can help us to understand how past experiences may still have a part in shaping the present. Through fostering growth in self-awareness and developing a deeper and more cohesive emotional connection to yourself, psychodynamic therapy may be able to help not only with relief from symptoms, but also opening the possibility of relating to yourself and others in more healthy, authentic and fulfilling ways.

This style of therapy tends to suit people who are curious about their experiences, and is typically a more in-depth therapy than brief strategies-focused approaches. Depending on your unique needs, I may additionally draw on other frameworks in our work together such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), interpersonal neurobiology and attachment informed perspectives, and trauma-informed approaches. I am also trained in Circle of Security Parenting.
