Therapy Approach

I work in an integrative and relational way, drawing predominately from frameworks such as psychodynamic therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT; A branch of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy), interpersonal neurobiology and attachment-informed approaches. Therapy provides an opportunity for your experiences to be met with curiosity and care, reflecting together on your thoughts, emotions, behaviours, and relationships. This can help us to understand how your current patterns may have a part in shaping how difficulties are responded to in the present, as well as inviting and supporting the possibility for new healthy ways of being. Some of the patterns we have developed may once have been protective or adaptive, though might now be holding us back from more healthy ways of relating to ourselves and others. Through getting to know the deeper emotions and needs underneath these patterns as well as exploring new ways of responding to these needs, therapy can support the development of increased self-awareness and self-compassion, emotional flexibility, and a greater sense of choice in how you respond to life’s challenges. Over time, this can help reduce distress while also expanding your capacity to engage in relationships, work, play, and everyday life in ways that feel more meaningful and aligned.

You are welcome to get in contact for information about current fees.

Referrals are not required to attend psychology appointments. However, if you would like to access a Medicare rebate you can speak with your GP to see if you may be eligible for a Mental Health Care Plan (under which you can claim a rebate for up to 10 psychology sessions per calendar year).

Private health funds may also offer rebates for psychology services, depending on your individual level of cover.
